DynWiFi is a community initiative, championed by Dynamic Network Services Incorporated, a world leader in networking and domain name technologies. The company is headquartered in downtown Manchester. Users of this network know it as "Free Manchester Hotspot"
The project provides free pervasive networking in the downtown area. This means free wireless Internet access, wherever you are: on the street, in a public park or sipping a cup of coffee at your favorite hangout place.
To enjoy DynWiFi, just open your WiFi-enabled device and join the Free Manchester Hotspot network. Then, open your web browser and navigate to the page you wish. Do remember you are on a public network, so play nice and be safe! Some more guidance is available for your first time.
If you already have a wireless network at home, DynWiFi works in a similar way. Participating locations plug in a small device that provides wireless networking to the area surrounding it. These are tiny white boxes with just a power cable so you may well not notice them – and they won't ruin the view. The more devices there are, the better and more available the network.
A few of these devices are connected to the Internet itself. Every device shares its access with every other: that's how the entire network connects to the Internet, at no cost to its users. This technique is known in certain circles as mesh networking.
